Sustainability commitment
Our commitment to responsible healthcare
At Berflow Health, we believe that making quality healthcare more accessible goes hand in hand with protecting the environment, respecting people and creating lasting economic value.
Our sustainability commitment covers our operations, procurement decisions and business relationships. It is guided by the environmental, social and economic principles of the United Nations Sustainable Procurement Framework and the UN Supplier Code of Conduct.
Environmental responsibility
We are committed to reducing avoidable environmental impacts while maintaining product quality, patient safety and infection prevention.
Our priorities include:
-
Pollution prevention: supporting the safe handling, storage and disposal of healthcare products, hazardous materials, batteries and electronic equipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
-
Responsible resource use: reducing unnecessary packaging, printing and material consumption, and favouring recyclable materials where practical.
-
Climate change mitigation: considering energy efficiency, transport options and shipment consolidation in purchasing and delivery decisions.
-
Environmental and biodiversity protection: considering environmental risks when selecting suppliers and avoiding sourcing practices associated with illegal resource extraction or damage to protected habitats.
-
Waste reduction: improving demand planning, stock rotation and shelf-life management to minimise expired, damaged or unusable products.
People, equality and well-being
We are committed to respecting internationally recognised human rights and fundamental labour principles. We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold these standards.
Our commitments include:
-
Prohibiting forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse.
-
Supporting safe working conditions, fair treatment, freedom of association and non-discrimination.
-
Promoting gender equality and equal opportunity in recruitment, professional development and business relationships.
-
Supporting health and well-being through access to appropriate, quality-assured healthcare products and clear product information.
-
Encouraging responsible consumption through informed purchasing, appropriate product use and safe disposal.
Economic responsibility and sustainable supply chains
We consider affordability alongside quality, reliability and long-term value.
Where relevant, our procurement decisions take account of whole-life costs, including purchase, delivery, installation, energy consumption, consumables, maintenance, expected service life and disposal.
We are committed to giving fair consideration to qualified local suppliers, small and medium enterprises and women-led businesses, subject to quality, capacity and procurement requirements. We seek to support local communities through responsible partnerships and opportunities for local service provision.
Our approach to supplier selection considers product quality, applicable regulatory documentation, ethical conduct, delivery reliability and sustainability risks. We reject bribery and corruption and are committed to managing conflicts of interest transparently.
Accountability and continuous improvement
Berflow Health’s management is responsible for advancing these commitments and reviewing this statement annually.
As our business grows, we will strengthen supplier screening, communicate sustainability expectations to key partners and improve the collection of relevant operational data. Our priorities include monitoring avoidable stock waste, transport efficiency and engagement with local SMEs where reliable information is available.
We will distinguish clearly between our commitments, actions undertaken and verified results, and support any reported achievements with appropriate evidence.
